Three wines for your Festive Feast

After the year of highs, lows and social distancing we’ve all had, this festive season is set to be a time for serious feasting, reflecting on what is truly important and toasting to health and happiness with the ones we love.

Belts might be a little tighter this year, and Santa’s sack of presents a little lighter, but the festive meal on the table will always bring families together. And no festive meal is complete without the perfect bottle to complement every dish. Here are three wines to pair your festive feast with this year – cheers!

Haute Cabrière Pinot Noir Rosé

This beautiful blush pink is elegantly dry, with strawberries and rose petals on the nose. It pairs perfectly with hot days by the pool and light dishes like smoked salmon and oysters. This is an excellent crowd-pleaser, so keep a few bottles in the fridge throughout the festive season. It’s a great wine to have with your festive starter, as it’s light enough to enjoy with a salad or light summer soup.

Haute Collection Chardonnay

This special wine is created from a single block of Chardonnay planted on the Franschhoek property in 1983 by proprietor Achim von Arnim. Only 2138 bottles were produced, making it a special treat for the season. Clay amphorae were used in addition to French Oak barrels for the aging of this wine, offering subtle oak characters with notes of citrus, followed by subtle notes of honey and butterscotch. It pairs particularly well with cheese and charcuterie, so it’s perfect to have on the table while the family is grazing.

Pierre Jourdan Brut Magnum

We like to call this bottle of our signature Brut “celebration size”. This elegant Cap Classique is created from a blend of the classic varietal of Chardonnay, paying tribute to the versatility of both. Created in the traditional French method of bottle fermentation or ‘Méthode Cap Classique’, this wine has delicate yeasty aromas on the nose and is complemented by fresh citrus flavours and crisp acidity. It’s a very versatile wine, and pairs beautifully with food and of course, dessert.
